Flavorful Beef Stew

Ingredients

Proteins

  • 1.5 kg beef cubes (1" thick)

Produce

  • 8 garlic cloves (diced)
  • 2 onions (diced)
  • 4 big carrots (diagonally sliced)
  • 500 g potatoes (diced)

Liquids

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 5 tablespoons concentrated beef bouillon
  • 900 ml beef bouillon
  • 1⁄2 cup red wine
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

Dry ingredients

  • 5 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
  • 2 teaspoons thyme
  • 1⁄2 cup all-purpose flour
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Spatula

Instructions

  1. Dice meat if needed
  2. In a large mixing bowl, season meat with salt and pepper until every piece is visibly seasoned on all sides
  3. Add meat cubes to slow cooker
  4. Dice vegetables and add to slow cooker; mix everything with a spatula
  5. Sprinkle brown sugar and thyme, making sure to cover as much space as possible
  6. Add concentrated beef bouillon, balsamic vinegar, Worcestershire sauce and olive oil, making sure to cover as much space as possible
  7. Add red wine, then beef bouillon, making sure to rinse as much of the seasoning as possible
  8. Mix well with a spatula, making sure no meat or vegetable stick too much out of the liquid mix
  9. Slow cook covered on high for 3 hours
  10. Sprinkle flour while mixing well, making sure to not make any clumps
  11. Cook uncovered on high for 30 minutes to thicken to sauce

Notes

Ingredients note: Using baby potatoes is fine as they already come in 1 lbs (~500 g) packaging. They still need to be diced, though.
