Chili Con Carne

Ingredients
Proteins
- 1 kg ground beef (leaner = better)
Produce
- 2 onions, diced
- 8 garlic cloves, diced
Liquids
- 1⁄3 cup vegetal oil
- 1⁄2 cup molasses
- 1⁄2 cup ketchup
- 2 cans of 796 ml crushed tomatoes
Dry ingredients
- 2 cans of 540 ml dark red beans
- 3⁄4 cup chili powder
- 4 teaspoons ground coriander
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
Sweeteners
- 1⁄4 cup brown sugar, packed
Instructions
- Prepare separately: - Ketchup + molasses (bowl) - Brown sugar (measuring cup) - Spices (bowl) - Onion + garlic (diced on cutting board) - Beans (rinse them in strainer)
- On medium heat with a large cooking pot, soften onions and garlic in vegetal oil
- Add beef and cook until browned
- Mix spices in for 2 minutes
- Mix ketchup + molasses in for 2 minutes
- Mix tomatoes and beans in for 2 minutes
- Mix brown sugar in
- Lower heat and let simmer for 45–60 minutes

Cooking note:
The longer everything simmers, the softer red beans will become and the more spices will taste.
